While I’m not a huge slot player, I do dabble from time to time on breaks from the poker room and to build comps (and get a few free drinks while I’m at it). If I’m going to play slots, I want to have fun and not lose a shit ton of money in 5 minutes, so with those stipulations in mind, here are some of my faves:
The Ellen DeGeneres Slot
If you like Ellen Degeneres — or if you have a soul — you’ll have fun playing this game. The game provides you with a comfortable chair and upbeat music, so even losing doesn’t seem so bad. I’ve had decent luck with this game and can usually expect to hit at least one bonus when I sit down. There’s almost always a line waiting to play at the Ellen slot, so stake out your place and don’t let any old biddies elbow you out.
The Dolly Parton Slot
If you’re a country music fan or you love Dolly Parton this one is for you… but apparently it’s for anyone. I’m not a *huge* fan of country music or Dolly, but I still love it. There’s something about Dolly’s upbeat voice cheering you on and all the butterflies and glitter spewing at you on the screen that has me hooked. You can play DJ, too, and choose which of Dolly’s songs you want to listen to as you play. The bonus games are incredibly fun, and if you love pink glitter then you’ll love this slot.
Triple Red Hot 777 Slot
There are a few variations of this slot machine, but the Triple Red Hot 777 version is my jam. Unlike Ellen and Dolly, there is no animation or interactive element. It’s an older style slot machine with 3 reels and a pull crank – I actually kind of love pulling the handle, but if that’s not your thing, it also has a button.
It’s simple, but it plays “Disco Inferno” and flashes and makes cheerful DINGS when the reels hit something. Basic? Yes, but honestly I have the most fun playing this one. It doesn’t hurt that I’ve won the most money on this game, either. When you hit bonuses on it, you can hit BIG. How’s a $500 win on a $0.25 bet sound?
